Jacobs Suchard Company

Klaus Jacobs, a Swiss entrepreneur and philanthropist led the conversion of his father’s coffee company into a major European concern, Jacobs Suchard. Suchard established in 1824 famous for its Milka and Bittra chocolate bars and chocolate drinks.

In 1970, Jacobs Suchard Company and Tobler Company (Toblerone was major product) merged, forming Multifood Ltd which then became one of the largest chocolate companies in the world. Tobler-Suchard is a subsidiary of Jacobs Suchard AG of Zurich; it has international sales in more than 100 countries of $2 billion.

Jacobs Suchard merged with Interfoods at the beginning of the 1980s. the company then acquired a series of renowned chocolate enterprises in Italy, Belgium, Germany and especially the United States,

In 1990 Jacobs Suchard come under the wing of the Philip Morris group.

In 1993, KJS or Kraft Jacobs Suchard was created by the combination of Kraft General Foods Europe and Jacobs Suchard and is part of Kraft Foods, the second largest food company of the world.
