Micro Focus - British multinational software and information technology business

Micro Focus is one of the world’s largest enterprise software providers. The company was founded in 1976 by Brian Reynolds and Paul Andrew O`Grady and its headquarters is based in Newbury, Berkshire, England. The product of the Company that became a big hit in the software industry was CIS COBOL. It was a standard-compliant COBOL that was developed for its implementation in microcomputers.

In 1981, it became the first company to win the Queen's Award for Industry purely for developing a software product. The Queen's Awards for Enterprise is an awards programme for British businesses and other organizations who excel at international trade, innovation, sustainable development or promoting opportunity (through social mobility). For a new company like Micro Focus, it was quite prestigious and helped acquire more investors and customers.
In 2005, Company filed its first IPO and got listed on the London Stock Exchange. MicroFocus, in 2007, acquired the ACUCOBOL-GT product line of the company Acucorp Inc.

In July 2009, the company acquired Borland, a developer of application lifecycle management tools, as well as the Quality Solutions part of Compuware, including the automation tool TestPartner.

On September 2017 Micro Focus announced the completion of its merger with Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s (HPE) software business to create the seventh largest pure-play enterprise software company in the world. In July 2020, Micro Focus acquired Turkish cybersecurity company ATAR Labs for an undisclosed amount.
